Doily Dress

This is a dress that I crocheted using a doily pattern as a guide. I used patons grace yarn. It turned out a little full, but looks pretty good in the photo (which I hope you can see--as it is a mystery as to when blog photos will decide to appear!)
The doll is an Adora "name your own baby" that my mom got me from a trip to the NC Mountains.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today. COngratulations on your first blogging attempt. I love the photos in your slideshow. You do beautiful work. Where do you get your patterns? (I am addicted to baby/toddler dresses) They are lovely.

I couldn't help but notice at the bottom of your sidebar your statement that you love vintage things? Well, we have something in common. I love vintage things too. That photo is simply adorable.

I hope you have a blessed day!

Thank you for the compliments! I generally do not use an actual pattern. I start out with the basic square or circular yoke. Then I add the skirt by increasing stitches to create fullness. The stitches I use vary, but are usually ones I have used for blankets or doilys in the past. (Common stitches such as shells, picots, etc). I use vintage patterns for inspiration, but I don't follow the patterns exactly, because I don't know all the vintage lingo yet. I plan to create my own patterns soon, if there is enough interest out there. Please stop by again soon, and keep in touch.

I like the dress. try doing something with less white and bright colors.

Good suggestion. I think some yellow would have looked nice. It started out as a christening dress that took on a life of its own. (More of a square dance dress, huh?).
